The Field Museum

The Field Museum of Natural History fuels a journey of discovery across time to enable solutions for a brighter future rich in nature and culture.

The Field Museum was founded at the close of the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893. Its mission was to enhance public education and to advance scientific research about humans and their world. Today The Field Museum provides collections-based research and learning for greater public understanding and appreciation of the world. It is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation and 501(c)(3) charitable organization; as such it holds collections in trust for the education of the public.
